P. S. I Love You, the book - the best of chick lit

This is the story of Gerry and Holly. It is a love story where Gerry helps and guides his wife, Holly to move on with her life after he is gone. Usually, i don't like stories where 2 people in love are separated but in this one, they tell us that life goes on, even after the love of your life goes away and not as a drudgery but with more maturity and more meaning.

The narration is very interesting and engaging. The end or the moral doesn't matter, you are just so inspired to turn page after page. One of the examples that showcases Cecelia Ahern's skillful writing is the different ways in which she lets us in on the content of the 10 letters for Holly. From a chick-lit, you expect and don't even mind, run-of-the-mill stuff presented in a mediocre way, but this one has raised the bar.

Initially, i was a little disappointed with the first letter, both length-wise and content-wise but gradually its significance registered and the affinity kept growing after that. Through the 10 letters, Gerry lives with Holly and strengthens her to carry on with the rest of her life, to find love, to overcome her biggest fear and to begin living life as it is meant to be lived.

No overtly flowing emotions, no victimising oneself. Holly's relationship with her friends and family members, her acquired matured outlook, her jealousy and disconnect with the development in her friends' lives, it is all real and very convincingly presented.

i like the fact that Holly doesn't just jump into another relationship after Gerry asks her to. She takes her time and makes herself completely ready for it.

There are just a few discrepancies here and there. But, i think they are all quite forgivable and not worth mentioning, simply so that it shouldn't dilute the merit that this book holds.

Truly, it is a book worth reading. For all people out there in love and some few who think, love makes you weak, find out how love is but a constant source of strength.

Paa - just as expected - fabulous

Aww... Auro is such a cute kid. i just love him.

Paa is more about Auro than his Paa.

With a very simple storyline, this movie is very intelligently and heartwarmingly presented. The movie is very endearing with a total no-nonsense approach.

Progeria-stricken Auro is the apple of his mum and 'bum's (granny) eyes. He is a well-informed and intelligent kid. Oh... i am just so overwhelmed by Auro that i cannot think of anything other than him.

Ok, quickly then, i shall mention the specials about the movie without stating the obvious strengths of the movie.

The very practical, modern, urban approach of the movie. No unwanted melodrama, unnecessary sacrifice (as Auro puts it for his mom - such a sweet scene in the movie), sorry feeling for the terminal illness stuff. Taking life as it comes with the right amount of sensitivity attached to it. This definitely does not mean that the movie is uncaring, it is just pleasantly real.

Just goes to show that the movie-makers have finally and successfully started portraying real lives. i, on behalf of the viewers, am grateful for showing the mature film-making.

Each one of the performances are outstandingly brilliant. Bum (Arundhati Naag), Vishnu are absolutely lovable characters with fresh talents. Vidya Balan is nice. Paresh Rawal nice too.

Abhishek Bachchan has arrived. This man proves his mettle in a film that is entirely his Dad's. Although, i would like to tell the director that the politician scenes weren't required to occupy so many reels. They appeared as if they are there to showcase Abhishek's talent rather than the need of the story. Abhishek Bachchan is an A-grade actor just like his Dad. He might not have got the right kind of roles but he is undoubtedly, specially after Paa, talented to the core. i loved his scene where he breaks down in a controlled manner outside the hospital room.

And Amitabh Bachchan! What can be said about this walking, talking acting institution. There isn't an iota of Amitabh in Auro. You just cannot recognise him. Right from Auro's tedious make-up to his lisped speech, Amitabh Bachchan's hard work and sheer talent outsmart all the actors in the industry. He is the blessed one who got such a role. This role is an epic one. He has set the benchmarks so high for his colleagues that it will take herculean efforts on their parts to catch up. Of course, i don't need to talk about his histrionics, since it is established far beyond words.

A small budget film, the clothes, music of his movie is, dare i say, mediocre. But trust me, you will hardly notice and actually speaking it doesn't matter. Involved that i was in the movie, i felt the greed to see Auro spend time with his Maa and Paa as a family and not die in the end. It, anyways, was known that Auro's life was short-lived, so they could have avoided showing the graveness of it, specially after portraying the film so practically all along .

Awesomeness! Do i still need to tell you whether to watch it or not? It is not just a movie, it is an experience.
This is the first film whose trailer itself found place on this blog.
The wait was every small bit worth it. AB Corp has risen from the ashes and how!

Auro and his Paa are going to be remembered in the history of the Indian film industry for a long time to come.

The Hunting Party - thrilling and enjoyable!

After i read the storyline of this movie on Sony Pix in the Tata Sky 'i' button, i thought it would be interesting to watch it further. And after seeing Richard Gere, i knew this wouldn't be a complete waste. But i was so wrong. It is superb. The box office reports and critics can say anything about this movie, but it is very interesting, eye-opening also.

The plot revolves around an exceptional and successful journalist and the sudden fall of his career. His urge to rise back from obscurity forms the backdrop of the story. Richard Gere plays the role of this journalist working in the most happening news channel and enjoying life's perks to the fullest. He covers the war footage and its aftermath. A photographer and him form the best team in the channel. All of it changes when he goes to cover a war in Bosnia. He is fired and his photographer friend takes over.

After many years of doing small-time jobs, Simon resurfaces and promises a big story to his photographer friend, who is now just as famous as he once was. He claims to have the tip-off on 'The Fox' the most-feared terrorist who wreaks havoc in Bosnia. Simon Hunt (Richard Gere) convinces the hesitant Duck (his photographer friend played by Terence Howard) and Benjamin (news channel's Vice-President's son working as an intern) for the mission and begin their search.

Their adventures and misadventures on the way give the movie its character. And the soul lies in the real reason on why Simon wants to nab The Fox. Thrilling and spine-chilling, this one has the right doses of humour and drama into it. The end is a little dramatic but is entertaining.

i found this movie as an eye-opener because i got to know a few new things about the war-hit areas and the role of government and the politics involved in seizing terrorists.

It is a good watch!

Kurbaan - hackneyed!

Seriously guys, i think film makers should stop glamourising the subject matter of terrorism. And this film says nothing at all that hasn't been said before in better movies like Fanaa and New York. Promoted as a love story with bloodshed, it is so predictable and bland that you can sleep through the movie and not miss anything.

Totally lacks lustre.

i would give credit to Karan Johar's enterprising spirit for changing gears and doing something different than the brand image but the content needs to be new and improved.

Music is okish.
Clothes are okish. (highly disappointing because you expect not just good but fabulous clothes from a Dharma Production movie)
Direction average. But again, as a debutant director, not bad, promising.
Performances regular, not very impressive.
Kareena - Saif's love making scene (yawn)...yea...nothing sizzling.

Over all impression - boring.
Not worth watching in a theater. Watch it on Tata Sky on showcase :)

Dollar Bahu - another of Sudha Murthy's heartwarming book

i like the way books (the ones i am reading) unlike movies don't necessarily end with a happy ending. This one does not have a sad ending but it has a very believable and a practical ending. This is one of the many good things about this book.

Predominantly the voice of Gouramma and Vinuta, the mother-in-law, daughter-in-law duo, it is a poignant description of the everyday workings of an Indian household with the peculiarities of a joint family.

No-nonsense, simple and lucid, you sail through the book without stops. i finished it in just 1 day, in less than 20 hours, almost. Sudha Murthy generally does not resort to improbable twists in the story and says it like it is, but in this one, she pleasantly surprises you.

Chandru's crush on Vinuta, his younger brother Girish's marriage to her without his knowledge, it all sounds very believable with the right dash of spice to it. Gouramma's fascination with the dollar income as a means to fulfill her long-cherished dreams and then slowly the dollar encroaching on her familial happiness is very relative. i like the way Gouramma is introduced to the ways of America. The pluses and the minuses of living in America, described just the way it is, not as a villain or a hero, but as a country full of opportunities, failures, hopes and disappointments. It clearly testifies the fact that America has made despondent lives successful, made people hardened and indifferent, helpless and hopeful, all within its periphery.

i was very impressed with its end.

It is a quick read that gives you a sneak peek into the lives of a semi-urban family. Interesting.

Love Story - a quick, decent read

After all these years of this book being released, received and raved, i finally read it. It is a timeless classic, but somehow i did not find it that awe-inspiring. One major reason being it has a sad ending. The first sentence itself reads "What do you say about a 25-year old girl who died..." And for a love story, i expect a happy, fairy tale ending.

So, let me explain my reasons for not enjoying this saga of love. There was very little show and tell in this one. More than the language, i found the description of situations and characters a little unimaginative. There was no build up for the first meeting, first kiss, romance, the father-son tiff.

For some time, i even thought that maybe i am reading a mini version when i was actually reading the original version. i was expecting a more elaborate and passionate dramatisation of the situations.

i liked the "love means never having to say, i am sorry" part.

i didn't come away impressed. Had i read it when it first released then maybe, i would have enjoyed it.

Jerry Mcguire - My favourite

i have the DVD of this movie. And today when i watched it again, i was floored again. By the simplicity of the characters, the confrontation with realism, the mission statement and the importance of love.

i am not going to analyse the movie, judge it or make an opinion about it. am just gonna describe how it makes me feel and talk about the parts i loved, not in the order of its appearance.

* The dialogue that Jerry makes when he comes back, looking for his wife. "Tonight was a big night for our company, our little project. But it wasn't complete because i couldn't share it with you, i couldn't hear your voice...You complete me." So thoroughly from the heart.

* "If this is empty, this doesn't matter." Talking about the difference of heart and head.

* i love the way Dorothy conveys her not-okness with their marriage. "It's my fault. i thought the proposal by the car was for real....i have this great guy, who loves my kid, sure does like me a lot and i cannot live like this. i am not built that way."....i had thought my love would be enough for both of us, but it is not" The maturity that she shows by taking responsibility for the debilitating marriage and the steps she takes to rectify it just give you another lesson on love. Wow, your heart just goes out to her. Instead of carrying on silently or fighting for her rightful position, she thinks ahead and does what is right. Kudos.

* The talk between Rod and Jerry about Rod's football performance. Jerry says, "Can i say something to you as a "friend"? You know why you haven't got your Arizona dollar contract because you play with your head not your heart. It's always about who didn't talk with you, what are you not endorsing, how is everybody behaving with you. And it shows on the field. And people don't like to see that. When you are on the field, just play with all you have. Then you'll have the kwan"

* Rod pinching Jerry about his personal relationships. The way he understands and sees the tension between Jerry and Dorothy's relationship is intelligent. Here is this footballer who is not in the prime of his career, but has such a clear understanding about human relationships.

* Jerry's good at friendship, bad at intimacy nature. He can't stay on his own and he finds it difficult to accept it. So real.

* Ray's unbeatable did you knows. "Did you know that the human brain weighs 8 ounces". Sweet. That little man takes your heart away.

* The first 'You complete me' in the elevator.

* Haa...funny thing, when Rod appears on the TV screen of Monday Night Football, his young son says, "that's my Mo_ _ _ _ F_ _ _ _ _" So literal. :) His mother of course, tells him very politely not to use that word.

* What is interesting about the last scene is that Jerry and Dorothy aren't shown kissing or stuff. The realisation that love exists between them is truly the beginning.

* Rod saying, "i am not going to cry on your show.....i am missing out on somebody. Jerry Mcguire, my agent. Man, you are my ambassador of Kwan."

* "Less clients, less money, more personal attention."

* Show me the money and kwan

Inglourious Basterds - my first of the Tarantino films

i was very unsure of what to expect from this film. Mainly because it is set in the World War 2 era, whereas i am a big fan of contemporary, urban films.

This was the first film i saw of the illustrious Quentin Tarantino films. i can easily say that i enjoyed it.

The performances are of the best calibre. Brad Pitt, in his heavy accent,is ruthlessly smart, funny and witty. So are all the other artists.

What more can i write for this award-winning film?
Watchable but requires an acquired taste.

Paa - trailer toh jhakaas hai

When the kids in the trailer are cheering for Auro, i also go - Auro, Auro.

Amitabh Bachchan is going to shine so bright in his role as Auro that he's gonna shadow every actor in the industry. i find his entire get-up very cute and lovable.

i am afraid that this film might aggravate the living-up-to-his-Dad's-standard situation for Abhishek.

This father-son son-father story seems too interesting. i checked out the website and it is too cool. i am sure it'll live up to the expectations.

Anyways, it is the most awaited film for me. Can't wait for 4th of December.
Can't wait to talk about the movie here.

Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani... hehe

Sweet film. Funny, though did not create the magic of Andaz Apna Apna.

APKGK is a lighthearted romantic comedy. A love story, every cinegoer is aware of has been spiced up with comedy, star power and clean fun.

Ranbir Kapoor is Muaaahh......
Katrina Kaif as usual beautiful and lovable. Actually, she inspires me to lose weight. Very pretty she looks.

Music is very nice. Not path-breaking but very hummable. And there are lots of songs in it.

The comparison with AAA is obvious because the makers themselves have referred to it heavily and that reminds you of that A-1 comedy. So, you look for that same magic, and don't get it.

Could have been better with more solid funny moments. Having said that, can't rob the movie of its due credit. Not to forget, Salman Khan's special appearance as himself was the smart one.

My take away from the movie is, Katrina's fantastic clothes and Ranbir's charms.....
Yea watchable for some good laughs.

Up - Good Stuff

This animated movie is from Pixar and so you don't expect anything less than perfect.

The theme of adventure and living beyond everyday routine is in itself an interesting plot. And to top it, the characters are so well etched-out, you just can't stop getting mesmerised in this ballooony world :)

Sleek editing and smart direction keeps you glued to your seat. Everything from Kevin's sense of humour and Dug's small acts make you enjoy it thoroughly.

All in all, it is a sweet movie with a wonderful message.
Watch it please!

Wake Up Sid....... Nice with a capital 'N'

i pledge to watch all the movies of Ranbir Kapoor. And Konkona Sen Sharma also, maybe.

They are both rocking in this sweet, little movie. Fresh, vibrant, hip, cool, Wake Up Sid is all this and more.

i watched it with Ma and Pa at PVR. They loved it too because long after the movie got over, we were still talking about it. Pa even wanted to watch it again. Coming from Pa, this really meant that the movie is truly watch-worthy. i don't know why people felt it was slow and boring. It is such a heartfelt and cute little movie.

The movie begins with Ranbir trying to study for his exams the next morning. And it sets the tone for the movie. As the film progresses, you completely relate with the situations, characters and the over all plot. i did, totally.

Sid's lack of purpose in life, his angst, partly unhealthy relations with his parents, his prodigal ways, his immature ways are all justified. How he finally becomes a man from a boy and discovers love sums it up dazzlingly. Don't mistake it for Lakshya because the film is not about aimless youths. It is about taking cues from life and making the best out of the given situations.

The performances are perfect, just as the role demands. No dramatisation, no overreactions. That's why this one is so close to your heart, it just reflects your own life. Konkona doesn't need any laurels. She is just too perfect in any role you put her into. Surprisingly and refreshingly, it is a rather odd pairing with Ranbir but it gives the movie that dash of reality and appeal. Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak are unbelievably perfect. Ditto for Kashmira Shah and Rahul Khanna, he is been doing this small roles and shining through. Somebody, give him something big and his own, he'll definitely brighten it up. The friends of Sid are too cool. The 'healthy' girl and the meek guy are too adorable.

The music just about does justice to the movie. Iktaara is amazing. i wanted it to have another para but then it is asking for more, maybe. The best lyrics, as if they are speaking your mind. All the other songs are melodious too. i somehow feel that it could have been a tad bit better. Nice, though.

The photography is fantastic. You know, even i have a picture of feet against a water body of Mumbai. i told you, this is just a chapter from your life. The setting, specially the Mumbai Beat office is dhaansu. Clothes - fantastic, of course, it is Manish Malhotra. He knows how to hide the physical flaws of Konkona and Ranbir's t-shirts are so cute. The dialogues are perfect. Actually, i am running out of words to describe the movie or maybe i am getting repetitive. But i cannot finish it before giving the director his due credit. Young and smart, expectations have risen from you. The first baby is brilliant. Please live up to it, the next time over.

Over all, it is fantastic. Highly recommended. Must-watch actually. You'll start taking life lightly after this one.

Sathvaro Radhe Shyam No - Gujarati musical par excellence

i just came back after watching this musical. Every time i start writing immediately after the show means that the piece of art i just witnessed was exceptional and i just cannot wait to express it and let the world know about it.

Pa wanted to watch it and i was a little skeptical as it was devotional and stuff. But Pa was so right in telling me that it is simply superb. We watched it at the Iskcon auditorium of Juhu, Mumbai.

It is a representation of Lord Krishna's life, and more so, divine love life. His life too is not covered in chronological order, in fact, it does not cover all the events. But if you don't know about Lord Krishna, then you get a fairly good idea about Him. The way i looked at it, they just take an example of Kanhaji to show how life can be full of celebrations.

There was a narrator who did all the talking. 2 lead singers and 2 others to back them up, a whole team of musicians playing different instruments with perfection and the actors, actresses who expressed and performed dances so beautifully.

The songs, performances and artistic creations were created so exquisitely, that you just cannot help but get mesmerised. The choreography was almost godlike. There was nothing differently difficult in it but the way it was presented and put together was fantastic.
Spring in the artists' body and exuberance in every step....just describes what awesomeness is.

Right from baby Krishna to peacocks and idols, the artists personified them all perfectly. Special mention here about the last formation, the poornaswaroop of Krishna Bhagwan, it was just out of this world. Pa thought it was made up, but there was a living man standing there without moving even an inch.

Hats off to the artists for performing such pleasing steps, poses and expressions with so much ease and enthusiasm. From the stage, sometimes entering from the audience's gate, all they did was marvellous. And they keep adding other songs and dances into it. They performed one song without any visual representation, like dancing or else.

The director, who is also the writer of this Musical has to be honoured with a standing ovation. i didn't do it there, but he truly and completely deserves it. He gave up his cushioned job to make this one, and it is every bit applaudable.

This play is something that makes even the most unenthusiastic being cheer up. So colourful, so breathtakingly gorgeous, you just cannot take your thoughts off it. At the end of it all, you also start chanting Radhe-Radhe. You are sure to stay full of life for atleast a few days after watching this one.

Even if you are not Lord Krishna's bhakt, i recommend watching this musical. And if you cannot understand the Gujarati language, just enjoy the grandeur of dance and music, in one of its best form!

Brilliant!

Eleven Minutes........of immense praise!

Just finished another one by this great writer Paulo Coelho. Yea....i just can't get enough of him.

Eleven Minutes is about sex, love, companionship, adventure.
It is the story of a prostitute. But aa...don't make assumptions just as yet. This book doesn't exploit or victimise or sympathise with this much-hyped and sensationalised profession.

It is the story of a countryside girl, Maria, who on stepping beyond the boundaries of her village, finds her destiny. A destiny she chooses. There is no pressure on her to take the path she chooses. i liked the part where she says, who says you don't have a choice. You choose this profession, not the other way around. Clearly, it is not fate that leads her to the dark alleys of Rue De Berne.

She reveals the inner thinking of a sex-worker in a very dignified and as-is way. No drama, no emotional disturbance. In fact, she takes it up to experience some adventure in her life, without being frivolous about it. The respect and professionalism (not falling in love with her clients) she attaches to her work is amazing and compels you to think prostitution as just another job where the product you sell is your own body.
Many myths of sex, climax for one, are busted. :-)

Equally outstanding is the definition of love made in this book. i can't help but produce an excerpt here - Love is not to be found in someone else, but in ourselves; we simply awaken it. But in order to do that, we need the other person. The universe only makes sense when we have someone to share our feelings with. i think it demystifies love in the best form i have read so far.

Maria's quest for love is so actual. The way she goes about finding it is heartwarming. An interesting and completely different aspect of love and suffering is brought forth in this book. The fact that men don't really have an overpowering sexual urge, it actually is a notion that they are obliged to carry forward, is a revelation. And in true Paulo Coelho style, there are engrossing stories and legends that are shared. If nothing they open up a very different perspective, you'd never imagined.

i was stunned by the beautiful concept of gifting (specially for your life partner)i found in here. Just read it - Instead of buying something that you would like to have, i'm giving you something that is mine, truly mine. A gift. A sign of respect for the person before me, asking him to understand how important it is to be by his side. Now he has a small part of me with him, which i gave him with my free, spontaneous will.

All the small details, characterisations, settings, technicalities, they are all perfect. Maria's notes in her personal diary are fantastic. Another small excerpt i really like is - It was going to be impossible to escape her own trap, she would lose this man without ever really having him.

The male characters Ralf Hart and Terence among the many others are befitting too. Maria plunging into the uneven and unpredictable road to love holding on to her secure and practical dream of a farm and the works is brilliance personified.

i like happy endings. And in this book, i specially liked the end. It would have been easier to give it an ending otherwise, spiced up by martyrdom, justifiably so too. Actually the beauty lies in the fact that till the very end you don't know whether it is going to be happy or not. The end or maybe a beginning is very film-like and dream-like, like every girl wants it to be.

... i can go on and on about it.
Beautiful and pure is what it sums up to, if it has to be summed up.

The Winner Stands Alone.......absolutely!

Paulo Coelho can appeal to all audiences. This book, like his all others, proves it again. It has the Paulo Coelho signature style but it is so very different. i had read the first few chapters on Paulo's blog and i just could not wait for the book to release in India.

If this is the first book you are reading from this spiritually inclined author's dignified works, you wouldn't believe that he is the same one who has written a book about realising dreams, the masterpiece The Alchemist.

The research undertaken and the elaborate description of the subject matter for this fictional piece is amazing. The intricate details of the rarified murder techniques require intelligence way beyond google searches.

Igor's character is very well-etched. His unflinching acts without any guilt are too intriguing. Of course, the last scene is impeccable. I was present there on the beach...wow.

The way the characters merge into each other's stories is just too intelligent and plausible. Jut when you see one particular character coming to a happy ending, the twist surfaces and your emotions get worked up like the waves of a ocean.

An outside and inside view of the prestigious Cannes festival make you ask for more. It is superb, to say the least.

And i bought this full volume of Paulo Coelho's books available in a consolidated package, after reading this one.

Love Aaj Kal.....Angle naya hai :)

Yea.... it brings a smile on your face. And maybe a tiny tear too...

Love aaj kal is Imtiaz Ali's (Director of the superb Jab We Met) second baby. And expectations were sky-rocketed. So, the burden was heavy and honestly, it barely manages to live up to the expectations.

The first half is slow and sluggish and makes you feel restless and think, "is anything gonna happen here" But the second half is very touching and gives the movie its integrity.

Well, some people found it boring in the 2nd half. To each his own.
(And after all, its my blog :))

As the title of this post suggests, Imtiaz Ali has given the portrayal of love a new angle. With the 2 parallel stories going on in the same vein, you see the similarity between the 2 generations. Even if the styles and the expression may have changed love always was, is and will remain just that.

Talking about the director's style, it is superb and fresh. Very modern, dynamic and international. i think, i have formed a soft corner for this cool director because i have been talking and will keep talking a lot about him more than the actors, actresses and technicians.

He has retained his signature style. Punjabi songs with lots of colour in it, soulful music, 1 Punjabi number, mauja hi mauja style, Ye dooriyan taking place of Naa hain ye. i really like one thing in his songs and style, really. The positivity. Ye dooriyan and tum se hi, aaoge jab tum songs. When the situation is not very favourable currently, you think of a positive overture. Listen to these songs and you'll know what i am talking about.

Of course, the performances will be mentioned. Saif Ali Khan, hmm...okey dokey. Just because he has produced the film, he is part of it. Some one younger like Hrithik Roshan or Akshaye Khanna might have depicted it better. Nothing against him, he is a great actor, but he looks just too tired. All the responsibilities of producing the film got to him, maybe.

Deepika, i don't really like her. Not looks-wise, nor acting-wise. She is ya...there. i like the calm and serenity that she portrays when she is all alone, though.

Rishi Kapoor is very good. An actor of his calibre, of course, very convincing and sweet. Neetu Singh, in that surprise small role is so adorable. Man, she has to come back into films full-time. She can make such a sweet, mature, lovely, naughty, with substance character, all into one.

The new Brazilian girl who the world is talking about. Well, i didn't like her that much. First of all, she didn't have much to do, secondly, there was something very odd about her. The way she was dressed, the way she looked. i don't know, didn't go down well with me.

Rahul Khanna, short and sweet, nothing overtly impressive but not too silly a role also.

i liked the honesty with which the movie is presented. Many youngsters didn't like it because the way the Mango people are shown, they found it a little too far-fetched. But no, that's what i liked about it. It is bordering on reality. They have shown the inner workings of the young.

The best part to me was showing the completion of each emotion. To have live that current feeling fully.
If you want fun without any promises, it was lived fully.
If you want to separate, that was shown with full gusto by being apart in two different continents.
If you want to fulfill your career dreams, you just go for it.

i just love the reply that Deepika gives Rahul Khanna when asked why does she not tell Saif about their annulment and her love for Saif. It is so very true. She says, Saif hasn't realised yet that he also loves me. He will definitely abandon his Lion Gate dream and settle with me but then after a few years he might regret the decision and blame our love.

i think it is very important to realise it yourself. Love cannot be circumstantial.

It can be watched once, for sure. It is for people who believe in love.

A Thousand Splendid Suns.... A Thousand Time Read

This one is by Khaled Hosseini. So, the expectations were super high. Before i began reading it, a few friends said it is amazing. And as a habit, i read all the words of praise, and that added up to the expectations enormously.

Of course, it lives up to the expectations. If not better than Kite Runner, it is definitely as good.

The shared emotions of the 2 protagonists are superbly portrayed.
The story narration is beyond extraordinary.

And i didn't know that women in Afghanistan have had babies delivered without anesthesia. A C-section delivery. (Leaves you dumbfounded)

The turn where Tariq comes back alive at first sounds dramatic and filmy, but then as you go on reading, the depth comes through.

There are just too many scenarios which are worth much more than applauding.
There are scenes that just don't let you sleep at night.

It definitely is a must-read!

What this blog will be all about???

Reviews.
Yes, that's what the blog will be all about.

Movies, books, plays.

i've been reading a lot of books and watching a lot of movies. So, last night, it just struck me that instead of reviewing it on the parent blog (which may crowd it) why not dedicate a specific place for it. So, here i am.

Opinions, comments, discussions are welcome.

BTW, i am a very analytical and judgmental person. To divert all that energy into a positive experience, this blog has taken shape. These are my opinions and guys don't take offense if you find anything unfavourable.

Looking forward to lots of valuable and fair opinions!
